چکیده

Interactions between galactic cosmic rays and matter are a primary focus of the NASA radiation problem. The electromagnetic forces involved are for the most part well documented. Building on previous research, this study investigated the relative importance of the weak forces that occur when a cosmic ray impinges on di!erent types of materials. For the familiar electromagnetic case, it is known that energy lost in the form of radiation is more signiÞcant than that lost via contact collisions; the rate at which the energy is lost is also well understood. Similar results were derived for the weak force case. It was found that radiation is also the dominant mode of energy loss in weak force interactions, and that weak force e!ects are indeed relatively weak compared with electromagnetic e!ects.

Physical Investigation of Space, Dosimetry of Space Ionizing Ray Effect (Van Allen belts, Galactic Cosmic Rays and Solar particles) and Plotting Dose Map for Satellite Circular Missions

One of the main factors for satellite design is simulating of total ionizing dose due to space ionizing rays in devices used in space. By measurement of induced dose based on available data in different altitudes, expenses of designing, satellite weight and amount of needed fuel will be reduced. Optimum design of satellite for protecting satellite against ionizing radiation has considerable eff...

Klein - Nishina steps in the energy spectrum of galactic cosmic ray electrons

The full Klein-Nishina cross section for the inverse Compton scattering interactions of electrons implies a significant reduction of the electron energy loss rate compared to the Thomson limit when the electron energy exceeds the critical Klein-Nishina energy E K = γ K m e c 2 = 0.27m 2 e c 2 /(k B T), where T denotes the temperature of the photon graybody distribution. As a consequence the tot...

Galactic modulation of extragalactic cosmic rays − Alternative scenario of the origin of the knee −

Recently we have shown that the observed knee structure is reproduced well by a superposition of the hypothetical extragalactic cosmic rays modulated by the galactic wind and the galactic cosmic rays originating in supernova remnants. We reexamine this model assuming the chemical composition of the hypothetical extragalactic cosmic rays is the same as that of the galactic cosmic rays of superno...

Modelling cosmic rays and gamma rays in the Galaxy

An extensive program for the calculation of galactic cosmic-ray propagation has been developed. This is a continuation of the work described in [1]. The main motivation for developing this code [2] is the prediction of diffuse Galactic gamma rays for comparison with data from the cgro instruments egret, comptel, and osse. The basic spatial propagation mechanisms are (momentumdependent) diffusio...

Contribution of Stellar Flares to the Diffuse Component of Galactic Gamma-Rays

It is well known that diffuse gamma-rays are produced by collisions between Galactic cosmic rays and interstellar matter (Hayakawa−Hutchinson−Morrison hypothesis). We estimate the contribution of high energy protons produced by stellar flares to the diffuse component of Galactic gamma-rays. Each star in the Galaxy regularly produces flares that generate high energy protons in the energy range f...
